Safety
Like any other outdoor sports activity, there are important safety precautions that we take seriously.
The experienced staff of Big Blue Sailing Academy works to minimize risk and provide a safe and fun learning environment. The coaches and instructors are trained and certified by US Sailing.
Certain weather and water conditions may require instruction to take place inside and not aboard a boat. While disappointing, these situations are beyond our control. Every effort will be made to create a satisfying and educational experience, even if some time must be spent on land.
All sailors, or guardian of a sailor, must complete an Assumption of Risk Form.
All youth sailors enrolled in our courses, camps, and clinics must have health insurance.
All sailors are required to wear life jackets and shoes while on the water.
All sailors must be able to swim 100 yards.
Sailors will be in the sun for extended periods of time. Sunscreen, SPF clothing, hats, and sunglasses can help protect you from the sun.
